40 ft Sliding Glass and Steel Facade to Activate the Street
Roles: Architecture, Facade, Product Design
Social Studies has completed a huge movable wall facade and store design with a 40' sliding glass door system in Los Angeles to showcase their new products. Using one inch thick solid steel, as a frame around the large panes of glass, the facade system is on a motorized slider to easily open the store onto the street.
Our client wanted a facade that would pull people off the street and into their retail space, so we decided to completely remove the barrier to entry by creating a 40 foot sliding glass wall. Made from two 40-foot sheets of glass, the facade can be opened with a simple flip of a switch.
